Biffy Clyro

Kerbdog: On the Turn - They were one of the first live rock bands we ever saw. It was the reason we worked with Gareth Richardson  the producer, he did all of Kerbdog's stuff. That album was a massive influence.

Early Weezer: Pinkerton - My favourite Weezer album, and especially the Blue album. We were playing songs off that when we started. It was the first time we listened to music that was so unashamedly musical and poppy in a really nice way.

The Afghan Whigs: Black Love - It is an amazing album, choc full with great songs. Greg Dulli is just a great singer and a great lyricist. I'ts an album packed with straight up rock songs. Amazing.

The Vehicle Birth: Tragedy - It is an album that we all forget to mention. It was an album that really influenced us when we heard it. It was really off the wall, not heavy but kind of heavy. That was a really important record for us.

Soundgarden: Superunknown - I suppose in a similar way to Crowded House, which sounds bizarre, their music sounds a lot more complex than it sounds before you actually go and study it a little bit more that’s when your like “these guys are off their fucking heads.”

Crowded house is kind of similar when i'ts total straight up pop, and when you listen to some of the chord sequences and changes they are pretty weird.

(And yes he got chastised for comparing Rock legends Sound Garden to Pop erm band Crowded House.)
